BATMAN/SHADOW : TEL ÉLÈVE, TEL MAITRE...
De nouveaux meurtres secouent Gotham et Lamont Cranston semble être le coupable désigné. Le seul problème c'est que Cranston est mort depuis plus de cinquante ans. Batman doit aller jusqu'au bout du monde pour résoudre le mystère qui entoure la vie de Cranston, mais le mystérieux Shadow compte faire tout ce qui est en son pouvoir pour empêcher le justicier d'en apprendre davantage...
Les éditeurs DC Comics et Dynamite Entertainment collaborent pour concevoir un crossover qui va de soi ; une nouvelle rencontre entre les deux plus grands justiciers de l'ombre : Batman & le Shadow.
Ce n'est pas la première fois que les deux hommes font équipe. En 1973, dans Batman #253, le chevalier noir travaille avec un Shadow vieillissant pour arrêter une bande de faussaires. A la fin de l'épisode, Batman révèle au Shadow qu'il fut sa "plus grande inspiration". L'année suivante, non content d'avoir inspiré Batman, on apprend que le Shadow sauva la vie du jeune Bruce Wayne dans Batman #259.
Dennis O'Neil, le scénariste attitré des deux héros à l'époque, tenait à ce que la filiation soit reconnue.
Ce sera le cas, une fois de plus, quelques 45 années plus tard, grâce à la participation de Scott Snyder - scénariste plébiscité par la critique pour son run sur la série Batman - mais aussi de l'auteur Steve Orlando et du dessinateur Riley Rossmo, tous deux ayant collaboré sur le crossover Night of the Monster Men.
Batman/Shadow #1 est une mini-série en 6 numéros.
Le premier sort le 26 avril 2017.
